Philly Urban Book Festival

PHILLY URBAN BOOK FESTIVAL

Philly Market Street Book Festival supporting African American authors by encouraging readers to broaden their horizons in the literacy world.

 

Philadelphia, PA (June 26, 2012) – The Philly Urban Book Festival is here for another celebration of books, authors, and all related to reading and writing.  The Philly Urban Book Festival creates a marketplace for the exhibition and promotions of books, publishing, and new knowledge initiatives. Literacy Moments Magazine and the Good L.U.C.K. Foundation – Good Readers youth program sponsors of the festival hopes readers attending will come out to support African American authors and publishers who are encouraging readers to broaden their horizons in the literacy world.  This year’s Philly Urban Book Festival will be held July 14^th at the Camphor Memorial UMC on 5620 Wyalusing Avenue, Philadelphia, PA, 19131 from 10am – 6pm.   This event is free and open to all.

 

Last year Philly Urban Book Festival Author Ambassador Best Selling author Solomon Jones of “The Gravedigger’s Ball” who provided guests and authors with awesome resources and vivid pictures of the literacy world. This year the Philly Urban Book Festival Author Ambassador steps in the urban Christian genre with Author and Philly Native Nicole S. Rouse of “Still Standing” her fourth novel. As the ambassador for this year’s event, Rouse plans to share her experiences and provide tips and encouragement for those who are interested in becoming writers. She embraces her Christian roots by writing real-life stories about everyday people in a way that provides entertainment.

 

African American authors and other literary participants will have the opportunity to present their latest releases and participate in discuss with their fans, as well as sign autographs.    In addition to literary sales and exploration, there will be children activities, healthy zone, local organizations providing information and resources, vendor marketplace plenty of delicious food. This Kids Area will feature our Premier author, Idea Ricketts is a nine-year-old, fourth grade student in Chicago Public Schools Gifted and Enriched Academic Program. She joins us to discuss and sign her new book “Lyla Lyte and Li’berry Fruit”.  Author, style expert, fashion & beauty journalist – Cheryl Ann Wadlington  will join us and do a book signing for a her Teen Book – “The DivaGirls’s Guide to Style and Self Respect”.

 

Throughout the day attendees will be able to hear readings and take workshops on Write Your First Book, PR/Marketing and Social Media Tips for Success and Panel Discussion feature best sell author and literacy consultant Karen E. Quinones Miller. Best Selling author Quinones Miller will signing for  her book “Passin” and discussing of upcoming book..

 

Some other authors joining the Philly Urban Book Festival  are  Premier author Jacqueline White author of “Deception”,  Author/publisher Jonean McLain author of  “Checkmate”,  feature  authors Vanna B Philly Native and author of “Fancy”,  Tracy Syphax author of “From the Block to the Boardroom” and Radio and TV Host of  “Violence Serves No Purpose”, Shayne Lear author of “Money On Purpose Finding A Faith – Filled Balance”, Maurice Gray, author of “Long Terms” short stories in “The Soul of a Man” and Jemmie Adams, author of “Running With No Feet” These are just a sample of the cast of excellent authors who will be present to share their literary works and create long-lasting memories of yet another wonderful year of the Philly Urban Book Festival.
